For a long time now, most people who have owned greenhouses are ones, which have been made using aluminium and glass. However, today more and more greenhouses are having the glass replaced and instead polycarbonate is being. There are a number of advantages to be gained from owning polycarbonate greenhouses over the more traditional glass versions and below we take a look at what some of these are.

1. Greenhouses that use polycarbonate are far better insulated than those that use glass and are better able to keep the temperature inside at a more constant level. Because of this a person finds that the atmosphere is better and more conducive to them growing good quality healthy plants.

2. Another advantage to be gained from using polycarbonate over glass in a greenhouse today is that the panels are far less likely to break. In fact polycarbonate is a strong material and can often resist branches falling directly onto them or say a child accidentally throwing or kicking a ball at them.

3. All the sheets that are used to for installation in greenhouses are very light in comparison to glass and will be cut and supplied in the exact measurements that you want. So if you want to replace the glass in your greenhouse for polycarbonate instead it is a job, which you can quickly and easily do.

4. You will notice that each sheet of polycarbonate has a ribbed effect to it and this helps to break down the rays of the sun before they enter the greenhouse. So you can actually reduce the amount of shading you will need inside the greenhouse in order to protect the plants you are growing when the sun is at its hottest.

5. Along with the ribbed effect on each sheet they also have U-Channels and these will protect the sheets from insects and dirt also. Also these channels are essential as they help to remove the build up of condensation within side the greenhouse quickly and make sure that it drains away properly.

6. As we have previously mentioned greenhouses, which use polycarbonate rather than glass, are very well insulated and this will further extend the time that you are able to grow plants for. Plus if you choose to heat your greenhouse during the winter months in order to provide further protection them the loss of heat from this is greatly reduced as well.

As you have seen from above there are plenty of advantages to be gained from installing polycarbonate greenhouses in your garden over those that are made using glass. For those that live in much cooler climates then these are the ideal to help them ensure that they grow the best plants.
