How To Install Your Blinds
July 8, 2008 on 5:30 am | In Home Accessories |Now that you have considered getting blinds for your home, do not be daunted by the purchase or installation process. Everything will be just fine as long as you take the right measurements and are handy with a hammer and screwdriver.
It is not overly difficult to install blinds no matter if you are male or female or young or old. The instructions are pretty basic and you will be amazed at how easy it really is.
First, before you even purchase or attempt to install your blinds, take accurate measurements of each window you are getting blinds for. This will help you ensure the proper fit, both along the height and the width. Otherwise you could end up with window coverings that do not quite cover, or that are too long and wide. After you have the exact measurements of your windows, now it is time to buy your blinds.
After you have them and bring them home, it is time to start the installation process.
First get a pencil. While holding your blinds in the spot where you want them to hang, mark the wall with the pencil on both sides of the blinds because this is where the brackets will go. Having done this will ensure that your brackets will be installed perfectly and the blinds will at the right height. Time to go get your hammer and screwdriver.
Now attach the brackets to the wall where you have made your pencil marks. The brackets are normally installed using 4 small screws. Sometimes it is not easy to get the screws into the wall so just tap them gently with the hammer to get them started and then continue using the screwdriver. Ensure that the brackets are lined up with the marks on the wall so that they are far enough apart to hold the blinds. This may seem obvious, but in order for the blind to slide into the bracket the open side of the bracket must be facing front at the time of installation.
This is the time to install the blinds into the brackets that you have just put up. If your pencil marks were accurate then the blinds should slide into the brackets without any problem. You will have a small piece from the blind to slide over the open side of the brackets to secure the blinds and improve the appearance.
Now simply stand back and admire your beautiful new blinds, installed perfectly by you without any professional help.
