Dress shirts feature Buxton in black or white, Boggart Hole, Ramsbottom, Tottington in white or black, Rosendale in tan and light blue stripe, and Ringway in white/tan.

The women’s line of English Laundry clothing is not quite as extensive and features only tops. The selection includes: long sleeve woven shirts, jackets and sweaters, and vests. The long sleeve woven shirts include styles such as Luton in black, Whalley Range, Virginia in red plaid, Title II in pink and grey, Lady Barn in pink and grey, Kearsley in black and crme, and Cisterian Cotton City in pink. The ladies jackets and sweaters collection features the Heywod Sweater, Lord Strange belted embroidered jacket, Withington Trench Coat dress, and the plaid Northended Trench Coat dress. The vests collection features the Burnage vest, Prestolee II vest, Black Rose vest, and the Armada vest in black.

As English Laundry is primarily a men’s label, only the men’s section features bottoms available such as shorts, jeans, and slacks. The two different types of shorts to choose from are the Tameside Cargo Short and the Peterloo Cargo Short. The Tameside features a single color in black, brown, or cream. They are based off of the traditional cargo short style that has large pockets on each side. The Peterloo Cargo Short features stripes and comes in either grey plaid or olive. English Laundry also has two different kinds of jeans: the Crest Jeans which comes in black wash and vintage wash and features an English crest on the pant leg, and the Red Selvege Jeans which offer a tight, straight leg and come in either dark wash or rinse wash. English Laundry also features two different designs of slacks: North Slacker and Hathersage slack.

Besides clothing, English Laundry proudly offers accessories such as wallets, ties, scarves, and belts which display British images such as the Union Jack, royal crown, and lion crest. You are sure to find what you’re looking for in this dignified line of clothing. English Laundry has brought British sophistication and luxury to the world of fashion.

Brussels Cuisine Is Tremendous

August 19, 2008 on 7:11 am | In Travel | No Comments
by Charlie Gibson

If you plan on being in Brussels for more than a day or two, make sure to bring a belt with extra holes in it. The food is absolutely tremendous and you will spend as much time admiring it as you will the tourist attractions.

Belgium is a mix of French and Flemish influences. In fact, there has been talk of the country splitting in two. This has resulted in a culinary tradition of tremendous chocolate, beer and, of course, heavenly waffles.

Belgium is known for its waffles and rightly so. The waffles you have had outside and in other areas of the world simply do not compare. In Brussels, the waffles are so good that they are eaten for dessert instead of breakfast.

While you are in Brussels, make sure to have at least one glass of the famous cherry beer. This local drink is quite popular with nearly everyone in town, which is why it can be found at every cafe and bar. There is nothing quite like washing down that waffle with a nice cherry beer.

As the calories pile up, you are inevitably going to start thinking about exercising. Brussels is top notch in this area as well. You can rent a bike just about anywhere and go for a relaxing ride that will use up some of those waffles and beer.

Brussels is better if you try to go local. Skip the big chain hotels. Book a room in the many family inns in the city. They will treat you like family and show you where to go to see, hear and taste the real Brussels.

Brussels is best experienced on a casual level. Spend a day checking out the typical tourist attractions. Then spend another one just putting around and taking in the sites. The people are very friendly.

Brussels certainly has more to offer than food, though this is the one thing that many tourists never forget. From those great thick waffles to that thicker cherry lager, this town knows a thing or two about keeping the stomachs of visitors full of cheer.

Hotel Breaks in the UK

by Watson J Phillips

Got a spare few days off work? What do you do, do you stay at home or do you join thousands of other people who regularly benefit from the cheap flights available with the low cost airlines and enjoy a hotel break

These days there are lots of destinations to choose from more and more airports around the UK and Ireland. Airports that were previously unpopular or uneconomical to use are having aircraft arrive from other similar airports all over Europe.

The choice of destinations is now larger than they have ever been and you can jet off cheaply by booking a bargain flight then getting some accommodation online and jetting off for the weekend.

The possible problem with overseas trips on the low cost airlines is the flight times. If the flight leaves in the early afternoon or morning the return flight has to leave earlier to get back to collect other passengers. Generally if a flight is in the early afternoon the return flight will be late morning or early afternoon. This means when you wake you could just be left with enough time to get breakfast in the hotel before you have to set off for the airport for your return flight. This would only leave you with a few hours the day before to enjoy your destination.

Worried about the weather or like the idea of telling everyone you jetted off to a city in Europe somewhere. It does sound impressive to some people unless they do the same as you all the time. Don’t overlook the advantages of a UK short break.

You can get lots of flights within the UK and Ireland to some really interesting locations and with a greater number of flights you can leave at an earlier time and return on a later flight giving you more time away and not in the airport.

The choice of destinations in the UK and Ireland includes Glasgow, London, Dublin, Aberdeen, Belfast, Cardiff, Newcastle and of course London. Each destination has its own unique attractions.

Why not spend more time away at a UK destination than in the airport. You do not have to take the plane you could drive or take the train. More and more hotels offer more than just a room for the night. You could even book a murder mystery weekend or visit a theme park or spend the day on the Orient Express. There are lots of different hotel break options available.

Pod Hotels - Can They Save You Money When You Travel?

August 19, 2008 on 6:14 am | In Travel | No Comments
by Dorothy Yamich

Pod hotels are not a new phenomenon. They have been around for many years, but most travelers have never heard of them. They had their beginnings in Japan as “capsule hotels”, that were, and are still being used mainly by businessmen on stopovers. However, pod hotels are becoming more and more popular with vacation travelers as well, because they are convenient and cost less than regular hotels.

The pod hotel concept is only in its infancy in the United States and Europe, but is growing by leaps and bounds as more and more travelers want this unique service. Entrepreneurs are responding by creating small, pod-like hotel rooms that are normally rented by the hour, or number of hours.

Most pod hotel rooms are small, but comfortable and convenient, and they can have all the amenities of a regular hotel room at a fraction of the cost. They can be a good choice for budget-conscious travelers and vacationers.

Some pod hotels are located at airports such as the ones at Yotel.com, situated in London?s Heathrow and Gatwick Airports.

EasyHotels.com have pod hotels located in Zurich, London, Basal, and Budapest. GBIHotels.com have pod hotels in the cities of Amsterdam and Antwerp. A New York pod hotel is called the PickwickArms.com

Is the Manchester Congestion Charge a Price Worth Paying?

August 18, 2008 on 11:16 am | In Travel | No Comments
by Geoff Marston

Until the unveiling of the proposed Manchester congestion charging scheme in 2007, motorists and public transport users alike agreed that something must be done about Manchester’s public transportation system. With a proposed 3 billion investment in the system, one would think Manchester residents would be singing the praises of the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority’s (GMPTA) plans, but the congestion charging element of the proposal, which is expected to generate around 180 million of revenue each year to repay the 3 billion investment, has caused a deep divide between those in favour, and those not.

Those in favour of the scheme cite the huge public transport investment and potential saving of 30,000 jobs (which Manchester City Council’s leader, Sir Richard Leese, claims would be lost if the hidden tax of congestion is sustained much longer) as the primary benefits of the scheme, along with the advantages of shorter, reliable travelling times, a cleaner, healthier environment for all, and a reduction in road traffic accidents.

Those against the scheme, many of whom are passionately fighting the proposals, such as the National Alliance Against Tolls, Manchester Against Road Tolls, STOP! The Charge, and the Forum of Private Businesses (FPB), are continuing to sign up thousands of Manchester residents to petitions. Their main arguments are that motorists are already paying billions in road tax, VAT, council tax, insurance and other charges that makes its way into the local Governments coffers, and it is this money that should be used to improve the public transport system, not additional taxes generated through road tolls.

What both parties do still agree on is that Manchester’s public transport system is in need of investment. The congestion charging scheme is the only practical solution to this problem and few, if any, decent alternatives have been suggested by the various opposing groups.

The opposition also argue that much city-centre business would be lost, with many people opting to spend their money with local businesses instead. Firstly, this would surely be a very positive development for many small, local business owners - exactly the type of businesses that are being pressured by the larger city-centre brands. Secondly, however, this argument fails to address one of the biggest benefits of the congestion charging scheme - behavioural change.

If the public transport system becomes many times more efficient and practical, as is proposed, then it may in fact be much easier, cheaper and quicker for residents to venture into the city centre. Residents of north-east and south Manchester for example, who do not currently benefit from the Metrolink tram service, have to endure a lengthy car or bus journey through majorly congested routes such as Oxford Road to make their way into the city centre. A relaxed and reliable Metrolink service to these areas would in fact bring more business into the centre, rendering the argument of Manchester becoming a ‘ghost town’ somewhat lacking.

Improved public transport could result in a significant shift in the behaviour of thousands of residents. If the need for using a car is reduced, then the congestion charge may be a non-issue for many people who can instead opt to use the greatly improved public transport. With fuel costs expected to continue rising, it is likely the public transport option will also prove cheaper, as well as being faster and more environmentally friendly. For those Manchester residents that absolutely must drive to and from the centre each day, this will be little consolation and we can all expect this fierce debate to continue up until the vote that will take place between the ten district councils following the end of the consultation period in October 2008. Seven of the ten councils must vote in favour of the scheme for it to go ahead.

Medical Insurance for Visitors

August 18, 2008 on 8:04 am | In Travel | No Comments
by C. Ray Sondeo

Visitor medical insurance is a policy that takes care of your health care expenses like the hospital’s bill, doctor’s fee, lab tests, pharmacy and the other related medical expenses depending upon the plan that you avail of.

Visitors insurance can obtained by purchasing it from either your own country or from the country where you are going to visit. These insurances protect you from any kind of injury or accident.

According to a survey conducted, many people think that purchasing visitor medical insurance from any US based insurance company is simpler and efficient than that from any other country.

The visitors health insurance may cost more if taken from the US based company but it will have recognition in most of the hospitals compared to the insurance company based in your home country.

Instant attention and coverage can be received in case of any emergency. There are many companies that also provide coverage for international visitors.

Visitors insurance plans are designed according to individual factors like medical conditions of the insured or number of days you are planning to stay , selection of the plan, coverage needed and the premium.

Apart from this, the rates also depend on the country and the company you buy the policy from. The company provides you with an ID card containing your details and your policy number. Verify the acceptance of your visitor health insurance policy as soon as you visit a hospital or some other medical institution.

If your insurance policy is accepted, then you are instantly attended. A deductible is the minimum fee that has to be paid by you according to the terms and norms of your policy.

On the other hand, if the doctor or the hospital doesn’t accept the policy then you will have to pay the entire bill of expenses yourself. Then you can file a claim with your insurance company.

The visitors insurance coverage can be purchased in days or in monthly requirements which will suit your travel needs. Some of the policies are renewable. This provides you with the flexibility to renew if you wish to change your plan.

Your policy will be in to effect the day you leave for your holiday from your country. You can also request the effective period starting from the day of departure and ending it by the date you land in your own country.

This will help you in getting covered for any medical emergencies during your entire journey. You will have to contact your insurance company to claim it, where you will have to fill up some claim forms of the visitor insurance along with proof of expenditure such as hospital’s copy of original bills and reports.

The factors that determine the health coverage in a visitors insurance are :
Age : One of the major factors.
Maximum Coverage : The plans differ according to this.
Deductible : The least sum of money that an individual pays to cover certain sudden costs related to medical conditions.
Rider Factor : The visitors insurance rises in case you think of pursuing hazardous activities like skiing and rock climbing.

Traveling with a visitor medical insurance is a smart thing to do, especially if you are visiting USA. All medical organizations and health care systems work differently in USA.

Be smart, protect your family as well as yourself by getting reliable health insurance coverage. Getting reliable visitor insurance is probably the best decision you can take in your life, if you travel quite frequently

Florida Home Builders - Find The Kind Of Home You Want

August 18, 2008 on 4:35 am | In Travel | No Comments
by Suncoast Real Estate

Are you a prospective home buyer living in Florida? Do you need to know how to pick out one of the many Florida home builders? Production builders, semi-custom builders, and custom builders are the main ways they categorize home builders in Florida. Here is a list of qualities each process to better help the home buyer in this most confusing decision.

Production builders in Florida do mass quantities when it comes to constructing homes. This method offers people little choices though. This type of builder offers only a few floor plans. With each floor plan the buyer can choose only from their list of features from the color they want their carpet to the style of their kitchen cabinets. Very limited colors for the outside of the house too. If the buyer has a very basic house in mind this type of Florida home builders may suit them just fine.

Another type of builder is the custom builder. When the buyer decides on a custom builder they get to start to totally from scratch. These Florida home builders will take all the buyer’s desires to heart when designing and drawing the blueprints. This enables the buyer to choose to create a very unique home full of features they want. The buyers can choose what flooring, wall colors, and other interior choices needed to be made. The buyer also gets to choose whatever exterior colors are to their liking.

Whole subdivision of houses that looks like they are cut out with a cookie cutter would be built by production builders. They offer the buyer fewer personalized items to choose from. They have stock floor plans and only a few in number and limited color choices on things like countertops and carpet. If the buyer is just looking for a simple house like for a starter house these Florida home builders may appeal to them.

When choosing any of the Florida home builders the buyer should make sure whichever one they choose understands how to build a house to hold up under Florida’s unique weather and soil composition. Parts of Florida have very sandy soil and the builder should take this into consideration. Weather-wise parts of Florida can get hurricanes and the houses should be designed to be able to be hurricane ready. This will ensure fewer problems with the house.

Does the home buyer understand the special environment their home may be located in Florida? They should make themselves aware of the possibility of hurricanes and their house needing to be as sturdy as possible so to at least be able to withstand as much of a hurricane’s fury as possible. Sand is a large problem in part of Florida and the houses will need special additional considerations for secure foundations under these conditions.

Buyers can make their homes an inviting haven if they make sure there ideas are considered. Whichever of the builders a buyer chooses to use they will have some kind of chance to put there own touches into their new house. Some of the homebuyers have to be mainly concerned with price. Most buyers though really need to analyze their finances so that they fully understand what price is right for them. Then they need to choose the builder that can come within that price need and give them the classification of house that they need.

Through word of mouth a home buyer should find out which builders are good in their surroundings. There are usually houses to observe the work of the semi-custom and the custom builders. The home buyer may have to set aside time with these builders to look at such houses though. If the home buyer is choosing to use and work with production builders there are plenty of chances to see their work because they work in such large number of houses they are readily available to be observed. With the proper questions asked and answered the home buyer can fully inform themselves before signing any contractual agreements.

Pros and Cons Of Using Online Travel Sites

August 18, 2008 on 3:41 am | In Travel | No Comments
by James Redder

Personally, I have always enjoyed traveling outside of my country but I know many people that have never even left the state they live in and always vacation locally. Wherever it is you want to visit, there will be numerous sources of information online at special travel sites. Many people use the internet now to plan even complex travel plans, never seeing a travel agent. The predominance of websites dedicated to travel says just how popular this method is as every tour operator has their website as well to add to the mix.

This ease doesn’t always hold true however, and I have never been one to trust my entire vacation to a computerized travel site; it just seems a bit too strange to me. However, I am still of the old school and prefer to sit down with a cup of coffee and plan my vacation with a professional, face to face.

I find it difficult explaining what I am looking for to a machine whereas it is easier to ask for details from a travel agent. I have never found it easy dealing with travel sites especially when I want to have a discussion with someone before I make a decision on something; plus on the very rare occasion you manage to get through to a support line, they are not as helpful as someone sitting in front of you.

If you do speak to someone, they may just tell you what you want to hear which is easy and what are the chances you will be able to find them? With a travel agent they are real and I can always go back to them and clarify points especially if something goes wrong.

A best friend of mine only books her vacations on travel sites and often she’ll book a last minute vacation that a travel site is offering which is one huge advantage of using a travel site. By browsing online she has made some amazing savings by just waiting until the last possible minute to book the vacation.

I’m not one for last minute travel although I suppose I could be if my schedule was more flexible but my job requires me to ask for vacation months in advance. There are other discounts to be made as well if you are prepared to book your vacation through a travel site, like discounts on car hire, excursions and tickets for events for example.

Knowing a little about what you want and information about the location you want to travel too can be useful so I still research as much of this as I can online before I pay my travel agent a visit. It may not be fair on my travel agent but at least I know if something goes wrong, I will have someone to complain to on my return.

Snowboarding Not Just a Bad Boy’s Sport

August 17, 2008 on 9:52 pm | In Travel | No Comments
by Bill Costas

You might have seen the Nagano Olympics snowboarding competitions and have an interest in the sport. Its popularity has grown by leaps and bounds since then and in spite of the fact that snowboarding great, Terje Haakonsen, turned his “ethical” nose up at the Olympics. He said that he felt that the judging was questionable and the “team” look was too rigid. Snowboarding inclusion in the Nagano Olympics has served to clean up a well-deserved snowboard up-yours reputation. Either way, snowboarding is here to stay. If you are a first timer and want to learn how to snowboard read on.

To get started in snowboarding I strongly suggest you consider safety first. Ask yourself are you able to take the rigorous demands that this sometimes dangerous sport will ask of you? You might already know that snowboarding tops the list in outdoor recreational injuries. Like any other sport, if not approached with the right attitude can be very dangerous. Learn all you can and get a certified snowboard instructor. Their experience is invaluable.

Secondly, consider your budget for equipment. Spend a goodly part of your budget on the safety equipment. Boards can cost upwards $600 so don’t blow your wad there and not leave money for a helmet and set of pads. You will always look at new boards but you will depend on a good helmet and set of hip and knee pads to lessen the abuse on your body. You will need a leash for your board as well. And, I cannot stress this enough, a large bottle of ibuprofen and I am sure I do not have to tell you what that is for. If you don’t know then you shouldn’t attempt learning this extreme sport

Consider your weather — that is weather in your hometown or near to you. If you live in Jamaica it might be difficult to get much snowboarding practice in. And yes, I have heard of the Jamaican Bobsled Team. But be realistic! If you don?t live somewhere that you can snowboard then maybe you can sand snowboard. Either way, you will have to devote it takes to practice and practice a lot. Travel time just cuts in on the slope time.

Decide what you want to learn about. Dedicate yourself to a snowboard method such as freestyle, freeride or freecarve. Each offers its own joy when it comes to snowboarding.

Video taping your exploits on the slope is a good idea. Trade off with your friend; you tape him/her and he/she will tape you. It is a fantastic way to record your successes on the slopes and to evaluate your technique or lack of. Post them on myspace or youtube. They are sure to be very funny. Mum might want a copy too so that she can see the drain that her money is going down.

Consider going to a snowboard camp for snowboard lessons. Many are offered in ?Future Snowboarding? magazine and are promoted all over the country and in other sports mags. You can learn a lot from a variety of instructors as well as other participants.

Well get on the slopes. Give freestyle snowboarding a chance. Tear them up. Don’t get hurt. It is a great sport that is here to stay.
