Children who are still preschoolers have limitations in what they can do. It is easier for parents to plan birthday parties for older children as it is easier for them to understand activity rules, unlike preschool children. These children also have short attention span.
So what should you do? Well, I suggest that if you are planning a party for preschoolers, you should keep them busy. Always make sure that they have something to do.
What makes a party a successful one? In this case, a back up plan is essential. This back up plan comes into action when an activity that you have initially planned doesn’t turn out well. A good back up plan is something like a movie or a coloring table.
If you are planning to have these activities, you need to set up all the activities before the party starts. You need to make sure that you get all the supplies ready. This is essential because you do not want to keep these preschoolers waiting.
Preschoolers are independent when it comes to activities. They like to have fun and just play with them friends. So, you should make sure that the activities you plan out do not have a lot of explanation. A good activity is when minimum parental involvement is required.
So, what activities can be considered good activities? I suggest that you have activities like bubble blowing, face painting, bean bag toss game and also water balloons. There are several party games which you can use but you should change some of the rules as some of them are quite difficult for preschoolers to understand.
In order to keep the party going, you need to keep the activities flowing. Interval time should be kept short. A sign indicating that the party is not flowing is when the kids are standing around you, waiting around.
Depending on the number of children at the party, you may want to break them up into groups. This will help to keep everyone busy and minimize waiting time. You may also want to use your back up activity for children to do as they wait for their turn at an activity.
If you are intending to include bubble blowing or even water balloons in as one of your activities, you need to make sure that everyone has the same amount of supplies.
Some activities can be very messy, especially bubble blowing and water bombs. Well, if you are thinking of including these activities, you need to make sure that you inform their parents so that they will bring a new set of clothes.
Preschoolers are at an awkward age where they are wanting to act grown up, but their bodies and minds limit them. Birthday party activities for preschoolers should allow them to express their desire to be independent and grown up, but also take into consideration their limitations. Now, go and plan a great birthday party!
