I am sure you have heard about stamp collecting but I expect you to shrug me off because you think that you are better off sitting at home and not doing anything rather than stamp collecting.
You may not know this so let me tell you a secret. Stamp collecting can be very mesmerizing and fulfilling. It may look boring but if you have not tried stamp collecting, who are you to judge am I right? So, lets begin by tellin you the basic needs to start your collection.
The first step is to get the stamps. So, how do you get the stamps? Well, simple. You can purchase a large packet of stamps. You can get these stamps at bookstores or if you prefer, you can get it from a ship where they sell all the collector’s stamps. However, it may be costly. If you do not intend to splurge money on your new found hobby, you may remove stamps from packages. This will give you a head start in your stamp collection.
In order to store the stamp properly, you need to purchase an album. By purchasing an album, you can keep your stamps in a safe place. One thing you should note when buying a stamp album it that you need to ensure that the album is large enough to store you stamps in future. Let’s face it, your stamp collection is just going to get bigger.
It is also important to store you albums in a safe place. A safe place in this context means a place that is safe from elements that may destroy your collection. An example would be water. Water can destroy your collection. In order to make your collection waterproof, you should keep them in a polythene packet.
You should also make sure that once all your stamps are in an album, it is still no considered safe. This is because there are always natural disasters like flood and fire. The safest possible to keep your album is by keeping them in a polythene packet so that they do not get wetted by water.
Stamp collecting can be very simple but it requires a lot pf patience from the collector. It may not be easy collecting vintage stamps and it may be quite difficult for beginners to learn how to grade a stamp. Even some long time stamp enthusiasts get it wrong. So, do not worry about it. You are not alone.
Believe me, once you start collecting stamps and learn how to grade and appreciate them, you will fall in love wih your new hobby. If you doubt me, why not take a chance and take up stamp collecting. Maybe stamp collecting is the hobby you need to spend your free time wisely.
