The Advantages Of A Coffee Bean Grinder

If you love coffee, then you already know that it will taste better if it is freshly ground. Wouldn’t it be great to have that coffee shop freshness in your home every day? A good coffee bean grinder will ensure that your coffee is always as fresh as possible.

But there’s more to it than just freshness. If you grind your own beans you can make the grind as fine as you desire. This is very important to a true coffee lover. With this in mind, perhaps you are now at least a little curious about trying this on your own.

If you haven’t tried grinding your own beans yet, maybe you think it’s hard to do. It isn’t. Or maybe you think it’s a messy process. Again, this simply isn’t correct.

The only argument that “holds water” is that it’s just easier to open a can and start brewing. And while this is true, once you taste the difference between store bought coffee in a can and freshly ground beans, you’ll realize quickly just what you’ve been missing.

The reason there’s such a difference is because ground beans begin to deteriorate almost immediately. That means they quickly lose some of their taste and smell. Grinding your own beans will naturally result in a better tasting and better smelling cup. Just grind up your beans right before you brew, and the result will be a flavorful and aroma full cup every time.

How the grinder works depends on the type you get. There are two primary choices, the burr grinder and the blade grinder.

Blade grinders are less expensive. Basically they function like a blender, only smaller. They use the blades inside to do the grinding. And while these are still better than buying your coffee in a can, they do not produce the best results. When you grind coffee beans you want to get a large surface that can be exposed to the hot water. The greater the surface exposure, the more oils and flavor will be extracted. Blade grinders do not produce an even grind, especially the less expensive models. The result is that most coffee experts consider them inferior.

Burr grinders meanwhile are typically used in high quality coffee houses because they give a much better grind. The burrs, or metal discs, are spaced to precise specifications, giving you a grind that is more even. A more even grind means a better cup. And it doesn’t matter what type of coffee you like best because these grinders are adjustable. So if you like Turkish drip or automatic drip, you can set your burr grinder to give you the grind you like best.

One thing about coffee is that everybody likes theirs a little different. What I may like best is probably different than what you prefer. But we can all agree that when it is fresh ground, it will taste better. That’s why if you choose a burr or blade coffee bean grinder, you’ll still get a cup that is better than anything you buy from a can. I can only suggest you try it. You may never buy a can from the grocery store again.

And just think how much easier it will be to get up when the alarm goes off, knowing you will have a great tasting, fresh cup of coffee available in just minutes.

Formulating a Home Buyers List - the “Buyers First” Way

May 14, 2008 on 4:03 am | In Real Estate | No Comments
by Jack Sternberg

You’ll remember when you first decided to start in real estate investment that you were probably instructed to do was formulate a buyers list. This was simply a list of names and contacts that are looking for certain properties. They told you “with a good buyers list you may never have to put a property on the open market.”

The “Buyers First Program” was designed to take that a step further. Instead of taking the investor track by wholesaling with all the associated risks, I choose to retail MLS properties through Real Estate agents by developing a “retail, end buyers list”. My system is fully RESPA compliant and is readily accepted by the traditional Real Estate community. Remember- Real Estate Agents only do things that are traditional and with full disclosure. When you deal in that arena, it has to be simple and fully compliant.

A list of buyers usually consist of familys that are looking for a home. They may want a 5 bedroom 3 1/2 bath property in a certain area for school district purposes. Folks on the list may be only looking to spend a certain amount for a set price range.

Formulating a buyers list is not hard at all. One of the easiest ways it can be done is with a simple ad featuring a free report on “How to Buy a Home if you have Some Money and Even If You Have Bad Credit” or “The Six Things Every First Time Home Buyer Should Know.” By running that type of ad in the local paper and directing callers to a toll free number you can find many interested people who are looking for properties. There may be many people who call and are just curious. The best way to deal with these people is to answer any and all questions. They may call back in a month or two and tell you they are still in the market for a home. Either way, your list is formulated by the contacts you make.

You can also gather names from family, and friends. People know people. On line Ads works and is yet another proven way. By putting together a buyers list, you can categorize the individuals into groups.

Give the leads to a mortgage broker to pre approve the people on your list. Some people will have credit issues and will be repairing their credit. These are perfect prospects.

Formulating a buyers list means you have a good start on a marketing plan of action. Every business has a client base. Think of your buyers list as your client base. The more clients you have the more business you can do. The more you do, the more money you can make. By formulating a buyers list, you are building a strong, stable and long term real estate investment business.

Bear Bile Farming: Why It’s Unnecessary Today

May 14, 2008 on 3:50 am | In Environment | No Comments
by Rashel Dan

Although it is more destructive than it is worth, bear bile farming is still a common practice in some places. It is a practice that must be stopped. It causes extreme pain to the bears. During the process, it can be observed that bears gnash their teeth, bite their cages, moan, and even chew their own paws because of the pain.

The Process - Bile extraction is done in the crudest manner, and without any form of sanitation. The persons conducting it are unskilled and the process is not up to modern veterinary standards. Most of the bears die during or soon after bile extraction. If they live, they suffer from liver cancer, as a result of chronic inflammation and infection of the gall bladder and liver. Generally, farmed bears live only up to 4 years.

Why They Do It - Bile is a digestive liquid produced by the liver and stored in the gall bladder. Bile gathered from bears has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for at least three thousand years for a variety of purposes. It is used in Chinese physiotherapy, to cure inflammations and to dissolve gall stones and kidney stones. Also, it is thought to help detoxify the liver and improve eyesight. And according to research, bears are the only mammals that produce the bile salt ursodeoxycholic acid, which is effective in treating some liver diseases.

Before, bear bile was gathered by killing wild bears and removing their gallbladders. In recent decades, when wild bears became increasingly rare, bile became prohibitively costly for most Chinese. But then, during the year 1980, the Chinese bear bile farming industry adapted a technique first developed in North Korea. This involved extracting bile from captive bears without having to kill them.

Bear Abuse - The bears are housed in cages hardly large enough to hold the animal itself. To get the bile, an incision is made in each bear’s abdomen and a catheter (which is basically a plastic or rubber tube) is then inserted into the gallbladder. The bile is drained through the catheter and then gathered for sale.

To gather the bile from the gallbladder, a connection from the gallbladder (located deep inside the body) to the surface has to be established. The connection, which is medically called fistula, is made in any of the three ways: insertion of a metal tube, insertion of a plastic tube, or creation of a tissue bridge between the gallbladder and skin. The connection is conducted by untrained and unskilled individuals who do not observe modern veterinary standards.

To gather the bile, some bears wear a “metal jacket”. It is worn around their bodies and it has a collection container attached to it. There are bears forced to lie on the floor of their small cages so the bile will drip downward. Keep in mind that their crush cages are extremely small. The floor is made up of iron bars so the bears cannot stand or lie down on firm ground. This results in neck and back injury. Since a bear’s body will try to exclude the inserted metal or plastic tube or close the tissue bridge, scarring and damage is done to both the inside and outside of the bear. Sometimes, to prevent the closing of the incision, hot pieces of metal are inserted without any form of sedation or anesthesia. Bile is collected twice a day, and this goes on for the rest of their lives.

Why Its Unnecessary - There is no need to make poor bears undergo such abuse. The use of bear bile is obsolete. There are at least 75 herbal medicines that can be used as an alternative to bear bile. Of which, 54 are proven to work. These alternatives are a lot cheaper and more convenient.

Now, synthesized bear bile that contains UrsoDeoxyCholic Acid (the active constituent in bear bile) is available. All these alternatives are just as effective without the deaths of innocent bears. Let us put a stop to bear bile farming. It causes unnecessary torture to poor bears.

The advent of plasma televisions has certainly changed our perceptions about what makes best television viewing. Even though when they first hit the market, plasma televisions were so exorbitantly priced that only the wealthy could afford them, today nearly everyone can own one. However, taking the help of plasma TV buying guides will certainly prove to be advantageous especially as it helps one to learn about latest technologies as well as knowing who the better manufacturers are.

You will certainly find the information provided by plasma TV buying guides to be very useful because it can show you how manufacturers such as Sony, Panasonic and Samsung and a whole slew of others are outdoing themselves in coming up with more appealing products. In fact, you can even use the information provided by plasma TV buying guides to compare not only different brands and models of plasma televisions, but also learn about comparative advantages that such televisions have over the cheaper CRT televisions. There are certainly considerable differences in prices with plasma televisions falling in the range of $2,000 to $3,500 as compared to the under $1,500 it costs to own a traditional color television.

So, as you prepare to find out more about the latest types of technology used in plasma televisions, reading up on various plasma TV buying guides and reviews will also show you how such technologies are radically different to those used in CRT televisions. The guides can also show you more about the types of accessories that can also help further improve your plasma television functioning and viewing.

Thus, from available plasma TV buying guides you will learn that plasma televisions require an external tuner such as cable TV or even satellite TV boxes or other similar types of devices. What’s more, you can even learn about how to connect other devices to your plasma television including DVD and Laser Disk players. Because plasma television technology is radically different from that used in conventional color televisions, you would profit from reading plasma TV buying guides which can show you that plasma television technology requires using two slim panels of glass that make up the television screen and in these panels are contained many pixels made from compressed gas and that there is no need for the conventional cathode tubes anymore.

Once you get into learning about plasma televisions from available plasma TV buying guides, you will soon forget about wanting to own color televisions and be prepared to shell out the extra money it takes to buy a plasma television. What’s more, it is interesting to learn from plasma TV buying guides how these red, blue and green sub-pixels are each controlled through use of very advanced technology that can produce a staggering over, it is believed, sixteen million unique individual colors.

Real Estate Now!.

Slow Market! People jumping off the bandwagon that they were riding on for five or six years, the real estate bandwagon.

Thats a big mistake. Real estate is still the number one vehicle for building wealth in America today and will probably be so throughout our lifetime and our children’s lifetime.

There are many reasons why this is so, but the two biggest reasons are one the reality of life; “You have to have a place to live!” and two, “The leverage” that real estate allows.

Lets explore each:

The reality of life seems to escape some people in a slow market, but here it is restated so it is easy to understand:

Everyone needs a place to live.

We are pack animals and we like to live near one another (and the requirements of water, sewer, electricity, etc. make this unavoidable).

There are more of us than ever before, and the numbers are growing.

We come in varying degrees of economic strength ( so we buy real estate in many differing price ranges and types of configuration).

Reason number two the Leverage, restated in everyday terms:

Real Estate is the only investment I know of where you can get in the game for as little as five to 10 percent of purchase price (in rare occasions a little less, and sometimes it might take a little more, but 5 to 10 is doable all day long).

The stock market offers you a margin account where you could invest for 50% down, try buying rare coins for 10% of the sellers asking price! Real estate allows an investor to obtain ownership for as low as 1/20 th of the price of the product, and then to receive the entire 100% appreciation during ownership!

If the above wasn’t enough to make real estate the way to go (and it is), while you’re owning it you can have others (tenants) pay the debt service (mortgage payment), and receive varying tax benefits from the government.

There are an unlimited number of ways to “Play” in the real estate market, but they all should be preceded by a good basic education of what the opportunity is about. I think that basic foundation can be obtained best by taking a solid real estate licensing course (the State of Florida’s real estate license courses are robust!).

You can now avail yourself of a solid understanding of the basics of real estate online, and you can do so for under $300, a bargain in my mind!
