Bathroom Decor Ideas for Normal People
April 24, 2008 on 4:20 am | In Home Repair | No CommentsDuring recent years, bathrooms have increased in size and this has meant new decoration techniques have been developed; this room can now be more attractive and one that you will be proud of. With the amount of time we spend in this room why shouldn’t it look and feel relaxing and an enjoyable? Why shouldn’t this room be a pleasant place to visit especially when you may relax in a bath for 30 minutes or more.
If you add the opportunity to show off your bathroom decorating ideas a little to your neighbors then it suddenly seems more worthwhile. There isn’t much point in spending thousands of dollars making other rooms pleasant to live in if you are going to leave your bathroom in a state of poor decoration.
Some of the best bathroom decorating ideas often come from methods you have probably used around the rest of your home and will keep it in tune with your overall style. So if you like the look of certain plants on small tables throughout the house then there is no reason why this same theme should not continue in the bathroom as well. Small round or square tables are also good for magazines, which is something else that will not look out of place in your bathroom.
Similarly, you can apply your ideas to the rest of your house if you haven’t already decided on a theme. Wall and floor tile are a prime example of this transfer of decorating ideas which can be seen in many homes.
But a bathroom tile that sets of one room can also provide a welcome alternative to the bland, white look so popular in kitchen these days. Tiles are usually the first aspect of decorating to be looked at for both the kitchen and the bathroom but there are many more decorating ideas which should not be overshadowed.
Soap trays, dishes and dispensers are commonplace now and can be really decorative. There are even articles in home decoration books and magazine illustrating how easy it is too make your own soap rays.
An unusual idea came from one magazine which showed how to make dispensers from clay which would not be a material that would automatically spring to mind. Of course, another great idea is to put something relaxing opposite the bath, such as a picture of a boat floating on a quiet lake. There is no reason to allow this room to stay dull and uninviting any longer with all the ideas and materials available today.
Direct Company Stock Investing in Stock Picker and Blue Chips
April 24, 2008 on 3:57 am | In Finance | No CommentsWith company stock investments, direct stock plans operate differently than buying stock through a broker. There is no commission charged for these stock plans, but there can be a small fee. The other difference is that the company buys and sells the stock at a given time. The investor cannot sell or trade stocks at will. The investor may turn the stocks over to a broker to sell, but the broker cannot charge a commission. You may be charged a fee by the company. It depends on your agreement.
The advantage to contacting the individual company yourself is that it allows you to use your preferences and then do a small amount of leg work. The company representative will give you the necessary forms and provide you with individual advice on how to set up pay roll deduction. In turn you can contact your banking institution, employer human resources or bill payer and set up the account.
You have to have an investor’s personality in order to have a lifetime of success in the stock market. If you have it, it works. If you don’t, try another type of investment.
Using your cupboard as a stock picker
Company brand products did not become staples in most homes because of clever packaging and cute commercials. The brands we as consumers rely on are on shopping list because the particular product is tried and true to its word. The household purchaser can make or break a product. The true clout of the American consumer is not to be underestimated in the Stock Market.
In the brand name product area you may need to look on the packaging to determine the name of the company to find the stock. Some favorites like Clorox, Johnson & Johnson, and others are listed under the familiar company name. Due to mergers and acquisitions many name brand products have become subsidiaries or subsumed in a larger company’s product line. All you need to do is check out the references on the label or customer service information that is located somewhere on the product.
The blue chip stocks
The fact is that we take for granted the Blue Chip stocks both in our familiarity as an end user, but often times in the stock market. The Blue Chip stocks make up the S&P500 index. These stocks as a whole can be purchased as an index fund. Some Blue Chip stocks make up the Dow 100. These stocks on the whole are a bell weather of how the overall market is doing.
There are index funds of Blue Chip stocks that can be bought through a financial brokerage house. There are mutual funds that are designated as Blue Chip Funds in most family of funds offered in all of the major mutual funds companies. There is even a mutual fund company that offers a spider fund comprised of Blue Chip stocks that is similar to the S& P 500.
The variety of ways to invest in Blue Chip stocks is endless, spiders, index funds, and hybrids in between. There are option contracts and some tricky investments that only a really savvy trader can advise you about.
The Budget - The Ultimate Financial Management Tool
April 24, 2008 on 3:33 am | In Finance | No CommentsA carpenter uses a set of house plans to build a house. If he didn’t the bathroom might get overlooked altogether.
Rocket Scientists would never begin construction on a new booster rocket without a detailed set of design specifications. Yet most of us go blindly out into the world without an inkling of an idea about finances and without any plan at all.
Not very smart of us, is it?
A money plan is called a budget and it is crucial to get us to our desired financial goals.
Without a plan we will drift without direction and end up marooned on a distant financial reef.
If you have a spouse or a significant other, you should make this budget together. Sit down and figure out what your joint financial goals arelong term and short term.
Then plan your route to get to those goals. Every journey begins with one step and the first step to attaining your goals is to make a realistic budget that both of you can live with.
A budget should never be a financial starvation diet. That won’t work for the long haul. Make reasonable allocations for food, clothing, shelter, utilities and insurance and set aside a reasonable amount for entertainment and the occasional luxury item. Savings should always come first before any spending.
Even a small amount saved will help you reach your long term and short term financial goals. You can find many budget forms on the internet. Just use any search engine you choose and type in “free budget forms”.
You’ll get lots of hits. Print one out and work on it with your spouse or significant other. Both of you will need to be happy with the final result and feel like it’s something you can stick to.
