People get hooked with woodworking because so many woodworking ideas exist. It’s challenging, enjoyable and satisfying. Here are some project ideas to inspire you!

Carving Project

Try making wooden reliefs with basic woodcarving methods. Refined and stylized designs are highly achievable on nearly every kind of surface. Familiarize yourself with typical motifs and patterns. You can then carve out your own creative designs on jewelry boxes and furniture for more effect.

For inspiration, look around you. Take photographs of leaves, animals and even the patterns on other furniture and interiors of buildings. Once you have your photographs, keep them as clip files. Arrange them by subject matter for future reference. Photographic references are perfect if you’re planning on carving out realistic objects and animals.

You should also keep a sketchbook for all your woodworking ideas. This is so you can sketch out any idea that comes to mind. You can roughly sketch out random details and put them together in a more cohesive manner later on for your project.

For handy techniques, buy a woodcarving book. Reading books on the field is a good way to practice on conventional styles such as Celtic, American Indian and Art Deco. The World Wide Web is the perfect source of free designs.

Wood Finish Plan

Antique finishes make any furniture one of a kind. You can actually create an antique finish on any secondhand furniture. You can read through some of the tips below to create an antique-looking piece of furniture that will fascinate your guests.

First, put stain on the surface. Utilize a color that shows more of an antique flair, like brown and olive green. The next step is to sand the stained surface with fine sandpaper for a worn out look. To make things easier, have an actual antique object as your reference. You’ll then have an idea on which parts should look more or less worn out.

You may also chip the wood with a file or chisel for a more genuine effect. Take it slow though and don’t overdo it. This can make your furniture look more busted than antique! Instead, spread out your patterns and keep sizes even.

Inlay Ideas

Produce figures on any wooden surface by making use of inlay. Intarsia is a method of inlay that makes any surface illustration appear more rounded. Intarsia is almost like a puzzle. You basically assemble wooden pieces of many kinds of colors, shapes and grains until a figure is created.

To get started, get a picture for reference. There are hundreds of free intarsia templates online! Intarsia is like putting together puzzle pieces, so templates may be needed for more accuracy.

There are lots of free instructions on the Internet for the novice and advanced. You can start off by simply sticking paper template on wood and sawing out the lines. The surface you choose to work with should be slightly concave to fit the wooden pieces.

Use color and grain on different parts of your subject matter to make your work stand out. Experiment with depth by using pieces with varying thickness. Use intarsia on cabinet doors, picture frames and boxes. There’s lots of room for creativity.

Painting Ideas

You can add your personal touch to any furniture you make. Why not paint on some of your own patterns? You can paint on traditional floral or geometric designs. You don’t have to be an expert at painting. You can always use stencils, which you can buy at any crafts shop.

Woodworking ideas can be found just about anywhere. Check the World Wide Web for new plans. Seek more challenge by investigating a wide range of other processes.

How To Digitally Deposit A Check Image

by William A. Gordon

For a lot of people the idea of “never stepping foot in a bank again” would be a dream come true. Now it seems the banks are ready to cooperate with their latest innovation called, digital image check deposit. Digital image deposit allows business and consumer banking clients to deposit check from their home or office by simply scanning in an image of the check. Say good-bye to bank lines or even a trip to the ATM, your home is now your bank’s latest branch office!

What Makes Digital Deposits Possible?

Four years ago the US government passed legislation that allowed banks to bypass physical processing, in favor of images of checks. The bill was designed to make check processing much more efficient as it would eliminate the need to courier or ship physical copies of checks from bank to bank. Now an image a check was considered just as valid or legal as the actual check itself.

CheckFree is one of the companies who have taken advantage of this new law and have begun to extend image check processing to everyday bank clients.

Image Check Deposits Step by Step

From the user’s point of view, it is actually a very simple process that requires only a standard computer, an Internet connection and a scanner which is built-in on most modern Inkjet printers.

1. You have received a payment via check that needs to be deposited.

2. You simply scan the front and back of the check on your home scanner.

3. Log in to your bank’s secure Internet access portal.

4. Visit the page on your bank’s site for digital check deposit.

5. Complete the form with the basic information about your check: date, amount & basic routing numbers from the bottom of the check.

6. Upload, using a simple point and click, the images of the check.

7. Complete the process, once you see your image online.

8. Your bank then completes the process electronically or in cases where the check is not compatible with electronic clearing systems, the check is reprinted onto paper and cleared the old fashioned way.

It’s that simple. Depending on your circumstances the money may be available in your account immediately, or may take a couple days; certainly no longer than if you went in person and deposited the check.

Reasons to Remote Deposit your Checks

Safety - there is no risk of losing the check or having it stolen in transit to the bank.

Speed - banks should be able to process check transactions quicker when they come to the bank in electronic format.

Time - it can save a lot of time being able to scan and deposit checks remotely and not have to actually visit the bank.

Freedom - with so much of banking now done electronically, having to deposit checks in person or in an ATM was one of the last reasons to ever visit a bank.

What are the Potential Pitfalls?

Security - there are always security concerns with any financial transactions. There is no reason to believe image check deposits will be any less secure than other online banking, but some will want to be cautious.

Digital image check deposit or remote deposit capture represents a major innovation in the banking industry and passes along a huge set of benefits to the consumer. Currently only about 20% of banks are offering this service, but recent surveys suggest that almost 90% of business clients (and probably almost as many personal clients) said they would use it when it comes available. If you deposit checks on a regular basis it is worth inquiring if your bank is offering this innovative check cashing feature, and if not letting them know that you would appreciate it being available.

Tattoo Galleries For The Lower Back: Sparking Your Creative Juice

People who decide to get tattoos are usually very creative individuals. They also resent being told how they should dress or act or think. They tend to think for themselves. If you are one of these people, however, and are absolutely undecided about what tattoo design to purchase, consider looking through some of the art available at lower back tattoo galleries.

Women who have decided to have their lower back tattooed have made an excellent decision. Because men cannot keep their eyes away from the curve of the back, and so many women opt for this location because it is so undeniably sexy. This location is also beneficial, however, because it is very amenable to diverse designs.

Because the skin on your lower back is some of the smoothest on your body, you won’t have to worry about inconsistencies in the appearance of your tattoo. The ink should look extremely uniform as it is applied to your skin. Additionally, this smooth “canvas” will help your tattoo artist work more quickly, minimizing pain to you.

Thinking about how much pain you are comfortable with is a good factor to consider when you’re browsing tattoo galleries. If you’ve got a high tolerance for pain, then you won’t have to worry about size or complexity of the design. For example, tattoos with many colors take longer to create than monotone tattoos. Additionally, bigger tattoos take longer than smaller ones.

But even if you don’t have a high pain tolerance, lower back tattoos are still a good option. You can look through galleries to find ideas for smaller tattoos with fewer colors. Maybe a simple symbol, like the increasingly-popular Chinese characters, or the outline of a butterfly or flower, would be an appealing option.

Many choices are available to you if you are looking for lower back tattoos. Search engines will offer many results for galleries that can be viewed online. This allows you to examine more closely the results of other people’s choices. Even if you don’t locate a design that meets your exact specifications, you may find one that gives you an idea for a creative design of your own. You will also be able to see how these tattoos actually look on the skin by seeing real models.

If you’ve already made your appointment at your tattoo parlor, go a little early and browse the galleries available there. Most parlors have their artists’ original artwork displayed, and you will also be able to look through catalogs that showcase some of the more popular designs. Again, you can find your ideal choice, or just get a good idea.

Lower back tattoo galleries are a great resource for finding your perfect tattoo. No matter whether you find exactly what you’re looking for or have to make some modifications, whatever tattoo you choose will be uniquely you. And that’s the most important thing of all.
